Hari Raya is a festive occasion celebrated by Muslims all around the world. It marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, a time of fasting and prayer. For preschoolers, Hari Raya can be a fun and exciting experience, filled with colorful decorations, traditional food, and joyful celebrations. Here’s how our little ones celebrated Hari Raya.
The preparations for the celebration started a week before the event. The teachers and children decorated the classroom with colorful banners, and lights. They also made traditional Hari Raya crafts such as ketupat.
On the day of the celebration, the children came to school dressed in their best traditional clothes to get them in the festive mood. The celebration began with special performances from each class whereby the children sang and danced to traditional Hari Raya songs and took group photos. They then proceeded to the classroom where they enjoyed a variety of traditional games and activities.
It is important for children to learn about different cultures and traditions and appreciate the diversity of their community. By celebrating Hari Raya, they can develop an understanding of the values of forgiveness, gratitude, and generosity, and learn to appreciate the differences that make each of us unique.
